If you need this, it's what you need Jun 27, 2009
By Dennis Walter Kirsch If you happen to have a Nikon N65 (now obsolete) and want to get away from the requirement of needing expensive batteries, this is what you need. Also gives a largger grip area. Plus, price is at a giveaway level.
Deal of the year! Sep 22, 2010
By S. Glaser The MB-17 adds some mass, balance & area to the N65 which although a good camera, is a little too light & small for my preferences. My hand has more area to grip comfortably, the balance is improved with larger lenses, & although not in fashion these days (like film), the extra mass actually helps stabilize the camera. It's a great alternative to having to use expensive, non-rechargeable, non-environmentally friendly CR-2 batteries. It uses 4 AA batteries, either rechargeable (NiMH work great) or alkaline. Nikon's usual construction quality is evident here. It's plastic but it is solidly made. Good shape & fit. Great price!
More Than Hoped For Sep 13, 2010
By Terry is it... Not only installed easily but works well. I use two Nikon N65 cameras and was ready to retire them both because of the cost the batterys-about $35per change. Using four AA's instead cuts the cost by about $30 per change.
The MB-17 adds a little extra depth to the overall unit and therefore it nests in my hands more comfortably.
The N65's replace my old Nikon F3 which ,with the motor drive, was getting a little to heavey to carry on field trips but I did miss the size of it till I added these power units to my replacement cameras.
Over all I am happier than I thought I would be.
Brand new Nikon MB-17 Sep 11, 2010
By spartans Since the CR-2 batteries required for the Nikon N-65 are expensive although not too hard to find, I purchased the MB-17 as an alternative to having to use the CR-2 batteries. It requires 4 AA batteries, either rechargeable or alkaline (I use NiMH rechargeables) and works great. Although it adds weight and bulk to the camera, the ability to use inexpensive AA batteries makes it worth the trade-off and the additional size works better for my larger hands. The shape follows the cameras shape and everything fits together very nicely. It installs easily to the tripod socket on the bottom of your N-65 and the only thing you must do prior to installation is remove the CR-2 batteries from the cameras battery compartment. Construction is plastic but it is solidly made and should perform well for many years.
1/3 the price of eBay and brand new to boot! Jun 07, 2009

I know that a Nikon N65 is a relic and that the MB17 has to be NOS but I have and am quite fond of my N65 and finding the AA battery pack NIB was super. I have been ripped off by other sites but never on Amazon.com. Thanks
