4BC-20 Ink Cartridge  May 09, 2000 By Michael Ramsey
The BC-20 is a good black cartridge that you can refill up to 4 times before you need to replace it. You can use BC-02 refill ink to refill the BC-20 but as with all refills make sure you refill the cartridge when it is half empty. If you wait until it quits printing then it won't last as long

4No production date on package  Dec 12, 2001
I use Cannon BJC 4000 for 7 years now. Mostly for printing of text so I purchase BC20 cartridge average once a year (two University students + as needed for home). I noticed that sometimes they last half of the time they usually do at my pace of printer use.
The problem is that the solvent in the cartridge evaporates over the time even that the cartridge is originally closed. Unfortunatelly (for us - the customer) Cannon does not print the date of manufacture on the package so the only defense is to purchase cartridge in the stores with short shelf life of the product (high turn over of the stock). I found that large office supplies stores (i.e Office Max, Miles Fox) don't sell many cartridges for bubble jet printers because their customer base originates among bussinesses that use mostly laser printers with toner. Therefore cartridges with ink are resting on the shelves long time and they loose ink. It is impossible to determine how much because the manufacturing date is omitted and store personnel is not familar with the evaporation of ink problem. I like the convenience of shopping on line. This is my first purchase of printing cartridge at Amazon but based on my friend's experience and comments of other customers, here, on this page.

1Not Worth a Penny, Let Alone $25.48  Dec 03, 2010 By Pa Print Consumer
I ordered this cartridge from Printers and Toners in November, and the product came to me with water-damaged packaging, and the cartridge didn't work to boot. Got a replacement, and it was just as bad. I would steer clear of this cartridge since they are not made by Canon anymore. Don't know what it says about the Seller since they sent me a defective product twice, but I would give them only one star as well.

Time to get a new printer.

2Disappointed  May 29, 2010 By lightshn "lightshn"
I must say that these refurbished cartridges were useless. I didn't expect them to be as good as the actual Canon manufactured cartridge. I did at least expect them to work. They unfortunately did not function; had to send them back for replacements. Hopefully the replacements work. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed.

5Buy the Canon brand and replace the ink when empty  Jun 18, 2004
I use a Canon MultiPass C-5500. I print a lot of text, and replace or refill my cartridge once ever 2 -3 months. Through trial and error, I find that I save the most money by using the Canon cartridges and replacing the ink with an off-brand ink jet refill system. I have replace a full tank about 2, maybe 3, times, before I feel that the cartridge itself needs to be replaced.

I experimented with different brands of "refurbished" cartridges, which are ink jet cartridges that have been refilled for you. Although the price is tempting, I don't think it is a bargain in the end. They are difficult to refill and they have already been used once or twice, who knows how many times.

I find that most universal refill kits works, and that you don't have to buy a refill kit specially designated for the BC-20. I like Comp USA's, but I've used other ones to much satisfaction.
